Description

As a Senior Software Quality Engineer at Foundation Source, you’ll be a key partner in delivering dependable, customer-ready software. You’ll own end-to-end quality efforts—shaping and executing thoughtful test strategies, digging into results, and collaborating closely with developers to surface issues early and drive clear solutions. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on bringing order and confidence to complex releases, adapts quickly to shifting priorities, and communicates with clarity and influence to help teams meet high standards and exceed customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

Test Creation and Execution (60%)

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts based on software requirements and specifications.
  • Execute test plans, scripts, regression testing, emergency hot fixes and any other necessary procedures across various platforms and environments, ensuring thorough coverage of software functionality.
  • Develop and implement automated test scripts to improve efficiency and repeatability of testing processes.
  • Conduct performance testing to identify bottlenecks and optimize software performance.

Defect Investigation and Reporting (30%)

  • Identify, document, and report software defects, ensuring clear and concise communication with development teams.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve quality issues, identifying root causes and implementing corrective measures.
  • Review and validate software requirements and specifications, ensuring they are well-defined and align with business needs.

Scrum Ceremonies (10%)

  • Attend daily standup meetings to report status on assigned tasks.
  • Attend weekly grooming meetings to provide input on acceptance criteria and testing effort.
  • Attend sprint planning and retrospective meetings to provide input related to stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Work collaboratively with developers, product managers, Financial Operations, Client Services, and other stakeholders to ensure high-quality software delivery.
Requirements
  • Experience: 3+ years of QA experience testing software applications.
  • Education: BA/BS in a technology-related field or equivalent practical experience preferred.
  • Well-rounded testing expertise: Strong grasp of functional, performance, security, and accessibility testing, and how to apply the right methods in an Agile environment.
  • Automation + scripting strength: Experienced with automated testing tools/frameworks and able to use Python, JavaScript, Shell, or similar to build scalable, efficient test suites.
  • Security & accessibility mindset: Capable of validating web app security and ensuring UI/UX quality, including WCAG compliance and user-friendly experiences.
  • Analytical, organized problem solver: Skilled at interpreting results, pinpointing root causes, and driving defects through to resolution with technical rigor.
  • Cross-functional communicator and partner: Clear, proactive collaborator who works smoothly with developers, product managers, and stakeholders to build shared ownership of quality.
  • SDLC + CI/CD fluency: Comfortable across the full software lifecycle and integrating testing into CI/CD pipelines to support reliable, continuous delivery.
  • Defect management experience: Confident using JIRA or comparable tools to track, prioritize, and close issues effectively.
