Senior Tax Accountant

We are seeking a senior tax accountant to be a key player on our Tax Team. The position requires an ability to analyze financial information, interpret tax rules, and complete work with a high level of accuracy and in a timely fashion. Written and oral communication skills are important, as the job requires continual interaction with colleagues, with clients (foundations), and at times with the IRS. The ideal candidate has a natural curiosity, ability to adapt to evolving tax laws, and swiftly grasp complex tax concepts, regulations, and industry changes.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and review foundation tax returns (70%)
- Prepare private foundation tax returns (IRS Forms 990PF and 990T, and accompanying forms – including filings in respect of direct and indirect foreign holdings, such as forms 926, 8865, and 5471) and extensions (8868)
Tax Calculations, Research, Analysis and Reporting (30%)
- Calculate, review, and approve quarterly estimates
- Draft responses to client comments and questions
- Research and draft responses to correspondence received from tax authorities (mostly in the form of IRS Notices)
- Analyze Minimum Distribution Requirements
- Other tax related projects as requested by management
- Bachelor's degree in accounting with 3-5 years of tax return preparation, with general accounting experience preferred (GL experience a plus)
- Experience with Complex Investments (Alternative Assets), K-1s and Foreign Filings
- Strong technical tax and accounting skills
- Experience with GoSystem Tax RS preferred
- Mastery of computer and web-based products not limited to MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat and Salesforce
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects while meeting statutory and internal deadlines
- Must work collaboratively in a team environment as well as independently
- Confidence to identify problems and recommend solutions in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Highly motivated, detail oriented, self-starter
