Client Accounting Associate
Foundation Source
Are you someone who thrives in a dynamic, detail-driven role where no two days look exactly the same? In this position, you’ll play a key part in supporting our clients by managing incoming communications from federal and state agencies, resolving tax-related inquiries, and contributing to important filing and reporting processes.
Your work will involve researching and responding to correspondence, helping collect and process data for K-1 reporting, and supporting the preparation of federal and state tax filings. You’ll collaborate across teams, stay organized in a fast-paced environment, and build deep knowledge in the areas of tax and compliance.
We’re looking for someone who is curious, flexible, and eager to learn — someone who enjoys problem-solving, values precision, and can adapt to shifting priorities while staying focused on delivering excellent service. If you’re motivated by doing meaningful, impactful work and want to grow your skills alongside a collaborative team, this could be a great fit.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Reconciliation & Client Collaboration (40%)
- Import and classify payroll-related transactions for clients using Foundation Source payroll services
- For clients with external payroll providers, manually classify, calculate, and reconcile gross wages, taxes, deductions, and benefits
- Partner directly with clients and payroll administrators to investigate and resolve any discrepancies between recorded transactions and payroll reports
- Support year-end payroll reporting by providing accurate data used in foundation tax return preparation
Financial Reconciliation & Valuation Support (40%)
- Review account statements from financial institutions to verify and enter asset balances with precision
- Record investment and charitable activity in the general ledger to ensure accurate financial reporting
- Reconcile asset portfolios and financial transactions against client account statements
- Support intake of statements and procurement of asset valuations
- Identify opportunities to improve workflows and processes that positively impact client experience and internal collaboration
Accounting Support & Data Accuracy (20%)
- Review foundation data in our proprietary system to confirm completeness and accuracy
- Reconcile financial data with prior-year tax filings (Form 990-PF), identify discrepancies, and make adjustments as needed
- Work with internal teams to clarify unidentified transactions and ensure they are correctly categorized
- Assist Senior Associates in reviewing complex or alternative assets (e.g., offshore corporations, closely held stocks, promissory notes)
- Prepare and update annual depreciation schedules and system entries
- A bachelor’s degree is a plus — especially in accounting, finance, or a related field
- You pick things up quickly and enjoy applying new information with confidence
- You’re a natural problem-solver who knows how to dig in, find answers, and take initiative
- You thrive in a fast-moving environment, can juggle multiple tasks, and adapt easily when priorities shift
- You communicate clearly and professionally — whether it’s over email, in meetings, or in writing
- You’re highly organized, detail-focused, and take pride in getting the small things right
- You enjoy working as part of a collaborative team — and you're just as comfortable running with tasks independently
- Experience in fast-paced, mid-sized companies is a strong plus
- You’re tech-savvy, curious, and quick to get up to speed on new platforms and tools
- Comfortable with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word — and open to learning even more
