In this role, you’ll play a key part in supporting our clients by managing and resolving inquiries from federal and state agencies related to corporate and tax filings. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include reviewing correspondence, conducting research, and ensuring timely and accurate responses. You’ll also support data gathering and processing for K-1 reporting, and assist in the preparation of various tax and corporate filings.

We’re looking for someone who is detail-oriented, dependable, and thrives in a structured environment. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys working both independently and collaboratively, follows established processes carefully, and is motivated by contributing to a team’s success. If you're someone who values consistency, enjoys solving problems with care, and takes pride in delivering accurate work on time, we’d love to meet you.

Key Responsibilities:

Agency Correspondence & Research Support (75%)

  • Review, research, and respond to incoming correspondence from the IRS and state agencies, particularly related to incorporation filings, name changes, and IRS Forms 990PF and 990T (including extensions and payments).
  • Accurately reconcile refund checks, credit adjustments, and resolve discrepancies between internal records and government agency data.
  • Manage and coordinate intake of physical mail from agencies, including regular mail received from the IRS and the State of Delaware.
  • Track and manage assigned work using project management tools, following established workflows and timelines.
  • Partner with internal team members across Tax, Finance, and Client Services to ensure timely and thorough resolution of client tax matters.

Support for K-1 Data Management (15%)

  • Organize and manage the intake of K-1 forms to ensure accurate and timely data capture.
  • Review input data for accuracy, and collaborate with the accounting team to obtain any missing or clarifying documentation from K-1 preparers.
  • Maintain careful attention to detail to ensure data integrity throughout the process.

Tax Filing Assistance (10%)

  • Support the preparation of simple federal and state tax filings for private foundations.
  • Contribute to other tax-related projects and tasks, as assigned by management, with a willingness to learn and support team goals.
Requirements
  • Experience communicating with the IRS or state agencies and supporting the resolution of tax-related matters.
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy.
  • Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Analytical thinker with a methodical approach to problem solving.
  • Comfortable working with systems and learning technical tools.
  • Detail-oriented and reliable — someone who takes ownership of their responsibilities.
  • Able to work independently with confidence, while also contributing positively to a team environment.
  • Eager to learn, take initiative, and follow through on tasks from start to finish.
  • Understands how each task fits into the broader process, and values precision at every step.
  • This role is based in our Fairfield, CT office and requires in-office presence five days a week.
