As a key contributor on our Tax and Accounting Team, you will play a critical role in managing intricate financial transactions, delivering custom reporting, and ensuring tax and accounting compliance for private foundations. This is an ideal position for someone who values clarity, consistency, and expert-level technical work, and who takes pride in getting it right the first time.
Financial Transaction Management (45%)
- Record and review a high volume of complex financial transactions across various asset types.
- Apply deep technical knowledge to determine correct accounting and tax treatment.
- Lead the financial onboarding of existing foundations, ensuring data integrity and accuracy during integration with the Foundation Source platform.
Trial Balance & Workpaper Oversight (25%)
- Create and review trial balances and supporting workpapers to ensure audit-readiness, compliance, and data accuracy.
- Manage your own timelines and proactively communicate progress and potential risks or blockers.
Data Review & Accuracy (20%)
- Validate and review K-1 entries and related tax data, ensuring meticulous accuracy and completeness.
- Anticipate and fulfill additional data requests and reporting needs efficiently.
Custom Financial Reporting (10%)
- Prepare and refine customized financial statements, budget summaries, and ad-hoc reports.
- Deliver insights and data with clarity, consistency, and professionalism.
- 2+ years of experience in finance, accounting, or tax (public accounting or private foundation experience is a plus).
- Bachelor’s degree preferred—or equivalent experience demonstrating technical accounting expertise.
- Exceptional attention to detail with a strong internal drive to produce precise, error-free work.
- Highly structured and task-oriented, with proven ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- Communicates clearly and concisely—verbally and in writing—especially when translating complex financial information for varied audiences.
- Operates with independence and accountability in a remote environment, while also contributing to a collaborative team culture.
- Adept at learning new tools, systems, and processes quickly and applying them effectively.
- Proficiency with modern financial and web-based accounting systems; advanced Excel skills strongly preferred.
- Strong diagnostic skills—able to spot patterns, identify problems, and recommend clear, actionable solutions.
