Position Overview
The Sustainability Strategy & Operations Lead is responsible for ensuring the impact we are facilitating for others externally as well as our operations as a company internally are held to the highest standard of measurable impact. Climate Club is seeking exceptional sustainability-focused talent that is profoundly committed to helping enterprise companies make major shifts to address climate change and can help us create and scale high growth products.
In this role, you will work alongside our sales, marketing, customer success, product, and engineering teams while directly interfacing with our prospects and customers. You’ll excel at identifying and understanding customer specific needs, demonstrating and scoping Climate Club solutions to connect the business priorities with technical solutions. Further, you’ll constantly be identifying trends in the market and providing guidance to our product and engineering teams to incorporate in the product roadmap.
Responsibilities
You primary responsibilities fall into four distinct areas:
Market Development and Customer Acquisition
Network with peers and leverage sustainability community ties to cultivate a prospect list with high quality customers and fill the customer acquisition funnel
Leverage thought leadership and experience to assist the Customer Acquisition team when closing potential deals
Develop value creation & solution-based problem solving with prospects and current customers
Create an ecosystem map based on customer feedback to diagnose who the key decision makers and single threaded project owners would be with the prospective client
Collaborate with Product and Marketing to identify industry trends and emerging customer requirements
Customer Value Creation & Relationship Management
Advise organizations on how to drive change management and decarbonization efforts across the organization
Help organizations create specific strategies to continually identify critical data inputs, applicable data sources, connect data to Climate Club, and understand the actionable insights within the platform
Partner with the customer to develop a sustainability roadmap in an effort to support a corporate sustainability transformation (strategy, people, process, technology)
Elevate the customer experience through thought leadership and consultative strategic support
Provide the “why” for integrating stronger sustainability and climate related initiatives
Develop a suite of customer-facing dashboards and templates
Advise sustainability communications/PR strategies, templates, and language and aid in the quantification of the associated risks of the communication
SaaS Product Design & Enhancement Support:
Help the Product Team drive tight requirements, project scope, and prioritized deliverables. Scrutinize the details and decisions made around customer value, sequencing of priorities, and integration of systems
Combine subject matter expertise with customer feedback to inform MVPs, product roadmap and future product enhancements
Benchmark best in class products with sustainability attributes via research in order to enhance Climate Club’s product offering

Internal Sustainability Leadership:
ESG claims that have been properly vetted by Legal and Communications
ESG reporting, starting with an initial internal deliverable through to a future external copy
Responses and assurances to the board and investor community
Propose all company objectives and goals related to sustainability and climate, including our internal usage of the Climate Club product within our own operations. Own the monitoring and management of sustainability related projects
Design the structure and coordinate the internal team required to work with and deliver:
Basic Qualifications
Three (3) to five (5) years of sustainability solutions experience in a customer facing consulting or sustainability leadership role; education considered in addition to experience.
Strong business acumen with the ability to present and explain technical information to various customer stakeholders
Ability to work across multi-functional teams with competing priorities while still delivering key objectives within given time constraints
Excellent communication, relationship management, and decision-making skills
Quick learner and can thrive in a constantly evolving hyper-growth environment
Proactive mentality and excellent time management skills
A profound commitment to integrity, honesty, and ambition
Preferred Qualifications
4-year degree from an accredited institution or equivalent on the job experience (MSc a plus)
Certifications from standard setters like GHGP, SBTi, etc.
Hands on decarbonization experience around at least one Scope 3 category
Prior experience creating and implementing decarbonization strategies
